Aston Martin: Fernando Alonso’s assessment of the first part of the season

After an astonishing start to the season in 2023 topped by six podiums in the first eight races, Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin have failed to repeat themselves in this first part of 2024. The Silverstone team, in fact, has è never managed to be competitive for top positions. On this obvious downsizing has been expressed in no uncertain terms by the Spanish driver himself in the analysis of these first 14 rounds of the new F1 championship.

"I am a little disappointed, we can not hide the fact that today we are fighting with Williams, Racing Bulls and Alpine, while last year we were looking at the top four teams in the standings. Now they are definitely out of reach, and we are just defending ourselves from who we have behind" began the Spanish driver.

"At the beginning of the season, especially in qualifying, we were always in the top five or six in the standings, so definitely there's a lot of work for us to do in the summer break and in the second part of the year if we want to become competitive again. We will not give up, but we will have to work hard" added Fernando Alonso.

The next round of F1 will be the Zandvoort GP on the weekend of August 28.
