Paris 2024 Olympics, Lorenzo Musetti folds Alexander Zverev and goes to the semifinals!

Lorenzo Musetti, world number 16, beat German Alexander Zverev, number 4 in the ATP rankings, with a score of 7-5 7-5 in just over two hours in the quarterfinals of the men’s Olympic tournament being played at Roland Garros.

Musetti breaks Zverev’s serve immediately in the first game of the match and holds the lead until 5-3, then at 5-4 loses the serve when he is serving for the set. Fortunately, the 22-year-old from Carrara operates the immediate counterbreak, then at 6-5 he saves from 15-40 and finally manages to close out the partial.

In the entire second set, on the other hand, there’s only one reak ball, and it’s the one that Musetti manages to transform on 5-5, and then closes the match by holding serve to zero.

In the semifinals Lorenzo will face; the winner between Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas. A tough match in any case, but with this Musetti who è exponentially improved mentally in recent weeks nothing è precluded.
