The organizers of the Montreal tournament are not hiding their disappointment, but they had counted on it, given that the Olympics are taking over in August, with all the consequences: another forfeit depletes the seeding.

This is a heavy forfeit, matching that of Novak Djokovic: Carlos Alcaraz also raised the white flag and, through a note, explained his reasons, which cannot not be understood.

“The season è been very long for me and, due to the accumulation of matches and fatigue, I won't be able to play in Montréal this year. I was looking forward to returning to Canada and enjoying the fans'affection. I hope to see everyone in Montréal in the years to come!” clarified the Spanish outfielder.

The Montreal tournament kicks off on August 6. It will be played on cement and will be a’excellent opportunity to continue the march toward the U.S. Open but also to see world No. 1 Jannik Sinner back on the court after the painful Olympic forfeit.
