Moments of fear at the Defence Arena during the batteries of the women’s 200-meter medley at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Tamara Potocka è in fact collapsed as she exited the pool after her heat, where she had obtained the seventh time.

The 21-year-old Slovakian è was immediately rescued by medical personnel who loaded her onto a stretcher before putting her on an oxygen mask and taking her away to better assess the situation.

"È conscious but we are waiting for new medical information ", organizers had hotly explained, trying to reassure everyone despite the very strong images that immediately went around the world.

As the minutes passed, è the situation was clarified: it was an asthma attack: "She did not have any specific medications with her, that is why she was sick,” said Ivana Langeova, a member of the Slovakian swimming expedition. “She will be kept under control for a while as a precautionary measure.”
