Olympics: Gregorio Paltrinieri extols his performance and charges ahead to the final
Paltrinieri’s statements after qualifying for the 1500m SL final
After already putting a bronze medal around his neck in the 800-meter freestyle, Gregorio Paltrinieri è gave himself a chance to win another medal in the 1500-meter as well. The Italian swimmer, in fact, finished second in his battery with a time of 14'42"56 behind Ireland's Daniel Wiffen in 14'40"34. At the end of the test, the Italian flag bearer bluntly analyzed his performance to the microphones of "Rai Sport".
"It's been an incredible performance for a battery. I got a really super time and sometimes with this chrono you win a medal. We had to pull to make sure we would pass the round. I am happy and even thought about staying in contact with Wiffen, but it would have been too energy-consuming" began the blue swimmer.
"I have not experienced these days very well, becauseè when you do well in one race you get a kind of anxiety of not wanting to wait for the other races. I really want to get into the pool to do the 1500 freestyle" added the bronze medal winner in the 800m SL.
"I do not know exactly how much I spent, but definitely a lot becauseè I wanted to push hard in this battery. Finals, forò are different and multiple factors enter the water that make the difference" concluded Gregorio Paltrinieri.
