Paris 2024 Olympics, Marta Maggetti doesn’t hide her excitement
Marta Maggetti moved by the great achievement
Marta Maggetti gave herself and windsurfing Italy an extraordinary gold in a class, the IQFoil, making its debut right at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. An exceptional result for the Sardinian athlete, who at the microphones of 'Eurosport' did not hide her emotion, describing the uniqueness of the moment.
"I feel really good, what I am experiencing è a new feeling, I would say strange,” she said.
Already after the semifinals I was moved, because I was sure of the medal. In the final I was able to focus again and I started off full of energy: è it was wonderful to win the gold, an achievement for which I have worked so hard".
Born in 1996 and sportingly raised in the Windsurfing Club Cagliari, Marta Maggetti brought back a gold in windsurfing for the first time since Beijing 2008, when Alessandra Sensini won silver in the women's RS:X class and Diego Romero conquered bronze in the men's Laser class.
The one won by Marta Maggetti è Italy's sixth gold medal at Paris 2024, in order of time: before her, Nicolò Martinenghi and Thomas Ceccon in swimming, the women's epee team composed of Rossella Fiamingo, Giulia Rizzi, Alberta Santuccio and Maria Navarria, Giovanni De Gennaro in canoe/kayak and Alice Bellandi in judo won the top laurel in Five Circles.
