Paris 2024 Olympics, Azzurra beam: gold D’Amato, bronze Esposito
Gymnastics, results
A resounding result for gymnastics Italy, with two Azzurre on the podium after the beam final. The presence of Alice D’Amato and Manila Esposito among the eight who were playing for medals gave hope but no one would have ever imagined to see both of them medaling.
The surprising fall of the U.S. queen, Simone Biles, paved the way for our two female athletes, who had already turned in excellent performances earlier anyway. The last obstacle between D'Amato and the gold was represented by the Brazilian Andrade, who però was not perfect and even finished fourth.
Italy won a total of 40 medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting a new record in terms of spoils in a single edition of the Games. Ten gold medals, as many silver medals and 20 bronze medals as well.
