The 23-year-old from Marche, number 61 in the world, è was beaten with the score of 6-3 6-2 by the U.S. Ashlyn Krueger, number 82 and from the qualifiers.
The match had little history: missing three consecutive break points at 2-2, the Italian lost her serve soon after and at 4-2 she failed to take advantage of two more break points.
Even more clear-cut was the superiority of the 20-year-old American in the second set, in which she broke twice in the third and seventh game without conceding anything to Cocciaretto.
