Bronze lifting of bronze

Italy returns to rejoice after an incredible string of fourth-place finishes in the various disciplines at the Paris 2024 Olympics. It does so in weightlifting thanks to Antonino Pizzolato, who won his second bronze medal with 384 kg lifted in the 89 kg category.

The Sicilian, who was already third three years ago in Tokyo although he competed in a different weight category, finished saplle only to Bulgarian Karlos May Nasar (404 kg and world record) and Colombian Yeison Lopez (390 kg).

Italy has won a total of 40 medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting a new record for haul in a single edition of the Games. Ten gold medals, as many silver medals and 20 bronze medals as well.
