Paris 2024 Olympics, Senna unlucky: fourth Acerenza
Collapse in the final of the blue Paltrinieri
.
On the last Olympic day with races dedicated to swimming, the long-awaited men’s 10 km was staged in the Seine è. At the end of a decidedly challenging test, gold medal for Hungary's Rasovzsky, who always ran a head race, never leaving room for his opponents. Silver went to German Klemet. Third was the other Hungarian Betlehem. Fourth place for Italy's Acerenza. Paltrinieri far from the best, complicit in a labored finish.
At the start of the last lap, Paltrinieri was in third place. Rasovszky and Klemet try to escape. Final sprint. Paltrinieri collapses and Acerenza loses the final sprint for bronze to Betlehem.
Paltrinieri, already the winner of the bronze medal in the 800-meter freestyle and the silver medal in the 1500-meter freestyle silver, fought like a lion in the waters of the Seine but, in the final, lost contact with the best. Convincing applause for the’other Italian in the race Acerenza who finished with an excellent fourth place, touching the podium.
Italy won a total of 40 medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting a new record for haul in a single edition of the Games. Ten gold medals, as many silver medals and 20 bronze medals as well. In France, with only a few days of competitions still on the schedule, will the Azzurri be able to do better?
