More trouble for Anna Kalinskaya, who has been facing all kinds of physical problems for some time. She got off to a great start in the Toronto tournament, scrambling Tsurenko, but è was forced to raise the white flag in the next match.

The match with Amanda Anisimova è was heavily affected by the aches and pains of Jannik Sinner’s girlfriend, who after losing heavily in the first set (2-6) chose not to re-enter the court, leaving the strange open to the Moscow-born American.

A new unexpected setback, then, for Kalinskaya, who at Wimbledon had been forced to retire during the quarterfinal match with Elena Rybakina under the eyes of the high-schooler, who was in the stands to support her partner.

The reverse side of the coin, however, sees an Anisimova who can look forward with greater confidence: for the first time since Rome 2022 è back to qualifying for the quarterfinals in a WTA 1000 tournament.
