Red Bull, Helmut Marko flunks Daniel Ricciardo
During an interview given to the microphones of "ESPN", Red Bull manager Helmut Marko, among other topics discussed, did not spare himself in analyzing Daniel Ricciardo’s performance this season. The Australian driver, in fact, was one of the candidates to take the place of Sergio Perez should the Milton Keynes team decide to replace the Mexican in the current race, but according to the former Austrian driver he did not meet the expectations there were on him.
Should we have decided to replace Perez, the idea was to bring Ricciardo back to Red Bull if he proved to be significantly faster than Yuki Tsunoda in Racing Bulls. Daniel, however, has had several ups and downs and for now has not met the criteria to aspire to be a Red Bull driver again" began the Austrian sports executive.
"We have to make the car easier to drive, the harder it gets, the more difficult it gets; the difference between Verstappen and Perez emerges. When the rear starts to be ballistic Max calls the car 'nervous' while for Checo it becomes unrideable" added Helmut Marko.
Daniel Ricciardo has collected only 12 points in the first 14 races, while Yuki Tsunoda has won as many as 22.F1 will return to the track on the weekend of August 25 with the Zandvoort GP, Max Verstappen’s home race.
