Andrey Rublev vents after victory over Jannik Sinner

Andrey Rublev è vented at a press conference after his victory over Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals of the Montreal tournament: "I am really very happy, I had been struggling for several months and beating Jannik repays me for everything. Mentally, I was struggling. Off the court it wasnì t always like that, but it was a tough few years, in which I also struggled with depression and which little by little I was no longer able to handle".

"At a certain point I exploded and could no longer handle" anything. This is what è happened. I started feeling a little bit better in the last few weeks and that is showing now in my tennis".

Analysis of his win against Sinner: "This time è it went the opposite of what had happened in Australia, with Jannik. Then he had taken his chances while I had failed. This time I made it, saving important break points. But that they were important you understand only afterwards, when the match è finished and you know the result".

Rublev emphasized the success against the world number one: "This success è the most important of the season for me. A great result that gives me confidence for the coming months. Playing two matches in one day? We know it canè happen and I felt we were both ready for it, I didnè t notice a decline due to fatigue".
