Carlos Alcaraz sets the target and warns Jannik Sinner
During the media day of the Cincinnati Masters 1000, Carlos Alcaraz, after winning the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and skipping the Toronto Masters 1000, è bluntly expressed himself on his upcoming goals ahead of the season finale, sending a clear message to his great rival Jannik Sinner.
"Obviously being number one è a goal whenever I am behind and the Race è an important ranking. At the end of the year, if you finish the season at number one in the Race, the ranking becomes quite similar. I am really focused on this goal. I want to play every tournament thinking about playing great tennis and getting a good result to improve my position ahead of the Nitto ATP Finals. Finishing the season on top è one of my main goals right now" began the Spanish tennis player.
"I am fighting to be first in the Race, è something I want to achieve as soon as possible. Cincinnati è an important tournament, so I will try to give it my all. Mentally I have been strong in some situations and I am really happy about that. I am excited about the way I handle certain situations: I always stay there, even when I know I am not playing great tennis. I always keep a positive attitude and try to find solutions" added the world number three.
"It's impossible to forget last year's incredible final lost to Novak Djokovic. I am looking forward to competing here again and I am happy to be back. I have great memories here, I reached the final losing an epic match. After the knockout with Nole in the match for Olympic gold I needed not to think about tennis for a few days" concluded Carlos Alcaraz.
