Gianmarco Tamberi, social clarification: ‘Don’t trust’
The clarification in a long message on social media.
Gianmarco Tamberi breaks his silence about his physical condition and more. The high hurdler chose Facebook to take stock of his recovery from kidney colic that has heavily affected his participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics. He però also wanted to shed light on his recent athletic condition, with particular reference to the diet he è underwent in recent months.
"Good Sunday friends, I hope you are well. I fortunately have been several days that thanks to the medication I am taking I have no longer had any particular pain or colic,” reads the post published Sunday on Facebook by Tamberi. “The stone is still present, but the doctors say it should be on the home stretch to be expelled. They have advised me to do physical activity to facilitate this process, so I have returned to training with the hope of also being able to do those competitions that we had already confirmed before the Olympics".
So Tamberi decided to attack, with these words: "I would not like to dwell more on the things that are being read these days, but in fairness to you è it is fair at least that I tell you not to trust what you read because most of the things that are going around are colossal rubbish and in my humble opinion also very dangerous for those who read".
And Tamberi è went more in detail: "From articles that talk about a diet that made me lose 7/8kg between the Europeans (11/06) and the Olympics (10/08), to others that say that I all year round drink a maximum of one glass of water a day… As you can imagine, in addition to general misinformation, these 'pearls' could also be harmful to share… To give you a more accurate idea, my weight (monitored daily all year round) was 77.5 at the end of January, 75.5 in mid-June and 74.0 at the Olympics (the exact same weight as last year at the World Championships). I drink more than a liter and a half of water at every workout and as much during the day. My diet è has been studied and shared by several professionals and I have been following this dietary regimen for more than 10 years without ever having had any problems and doing regular checkups. It is hard to think of changing it soì out of the blue in the most important year of my career without a specific reason…".
"I am the first to tell you that it è a very strict and difficult diet, as all the workouts I do during the year are very heavy and designed to take me to the limit but this è the only way an athlete has to try to reach his maximum level", concluded Tamberi.
