Lazio trembles, then exults: 3-1 to Venezia and top of the table
First the fear, then the top of the leaderboard.
Lazio topped Serie A at the end of the first Sunday of the championship, along with surprise Verona. This was the outcome of the match at the Olimpico, which ended 3-1 against a Venezia that had also frightened Marco Baroni’s team by initially taking the lead. Then the recovery of the hosts, until the final victory.
The Biancoceleste Sunday actually opened in the worst way: already in the 3rd minute Andersen took advantage of a lightness of the home rearguard and surprised Provedel with a right-footed shot that put Venezia ahead. But it is short-lived: at 11'11' Castellanos eradicates the ball from Svoboda and leaves Joronen no chance. The pace remains high: the same Taty and Zaccagni try to double, but on the other side Zampano also tries.
In the final part of the half è then again Castellanos to become protagonist: first he touches the double header, then forces Sverko to foul in the area. è penalty, which Zaccagni transformed at 44'. But the game isn't over yet, as evidenced by the chances early in the second half: Casale and Zaccagni on one side, Gytkjaer and Haps on the other.
Venezia tried to keep Lazio in apprehension, which però at the 81'81' closed the game in the most mocking of ways for the Laggunarians: on Guendouzi's initiative, the ball ended up at the feet of Lazzari, who crossed to the center where è Altare deflected behind Joronen the ball that effectively ended the game. There'è time for a post by the usual Castellanos and a miracle by Provedel on the same Altare, but the result does not change anymore. And Lazio canò celebrate.
