Jannik Sinner, clear ideas about post-Cincinnati
Jannik Sinner does not hide
Regardless of the outcome of the Cincinnati ATP final against Frances Tiafoe, Jannik Sinner already has very clear ideas about what awaits him in the six-day break from official competitions that will lead him to Flushing Meadows for the 2024 edition of the US Open. Already in the post-match match of the semifinal played against Alexander Zverev, the world number 1 did not, in fact, hide any longer.
Responding at a press conference to a question about the condition of his hip ahead of the season's final Grand Slam tournament, Sinner said, "I certainly feel discomfort at times, I have to figure out exactly what it might be because it feels like a little different problem from what I have had before. After this tournament we will check".
"In any case, I was sick for about a week,” added Sinner, speaking of the tonsillitis that forced him to not take part in the Olympic tournament, “then I went to Montreal where I also played two matches in one day. The time to recover è little but I am happy to play, I am not worried".
For the post-Cincinnati period, then, the path è already set: "I need to be in my best physical shape before the US Open,” said Sinner. “I have six good days to recover and work, I’m not worried: I want to be 100 percent in an important tournament like the one that will start in a week".
