There’s Jannik Sinner, Frances Tiafoe plays the lamb: “I take my hat off.”
Frances Tiafoe puts his hands out
Frances Tiafoe puts his hands out: he has no doubt who will be the favorite in the final he will play in Cincinnati against Jannik Sinner: "Absolutely him. Has he lost like five matches all year? È the favorite in every match he plays, there's no question. You have to take your hat off to a player like him".
Tiafoe, under the guidance of new coach David Witt, è became the first U.S. player to reach the final in Ohio since John Isner in 2013. With his victory, Tiafoe è climbed to No. 20 in the PIF ATP Live rankings. When the new PIF ATP rankings are released, there will be five Americans (Taylor Fritz, Sebastian Korda, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton and, of course, Tiafoe) in the top 20 for the first time since the week of Feb. 24, 1997.
Against Rune the U.S. performed a miracle: he was a foot and a half out of the match. "When I was up 5-3 I played a really tough game, I responded well,” he stressed. “Sometimes luck è on your side. Those tapes on the net made a huge difference. I saved one of the match points that way".
"In the tie-break I got out some good shots. I played well, I made good serves in the beginning, although in the end I didn't do it very well. But I struggled a lot and he è he stiffened up a little bit. One thing led to the other and here we are" he concludes beaming.
