MotoGp has announced that the Grand Prix of Thailand will open the 2025 and 2026 seasons of the championship. Next year, the Chang International Circuit in Buriram will welcome the top two-wheeled series from Feb. 28 to March 2, according to provisional dates. It means that for the first time in more than 25 years, the season will start from Southeast Asia.
Thailand è a strategic market for MotoGP, as well as for the championship’s brands and partners. So many fans and millions of two-wheeled vehicles circulating in the country. The first Thai GP dates back to 2018: so far four events have been held, attracting more than 800 thousand spectators ready to see MotoGP live. For them, now, the’chance to witness the opening round of a season, something unique and historic.
“Being the opening round has many advantages,” explains the governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, Gongsak Yodmani. “It will allow us to leverage a world-class sporting event to stimulate the economy and generate substantial revenue, in line with the sports tourism policy. One of the factors that will make the 2025 season particularly exciting è is the significant team changes by the drivers. Thisè will make for MotoGP lovers all over the world our date even more interesting. After the nearly four-month winter break, the inaugural race will showcase the protagonists in their new colors and highlight the dynamics associated with each team. As the event organizer, Dorna Sports plans to promote the season opener aggressively, drawing the attention of fans around the world. The visibility of the Thai round will therefore be even higher than usual. It will establish itself as an unmissable” destination.

The dates are provisional. The full and provisional FIM MotoGP 2025 calendar will be published by the FIM during the 2024 season.
