F1 Netherlands: Norris on pole, mocked Verstappen. Leclerc on third row, bad Sainz and Hamilton
Ferraris called to comeback at Zandvoort
For the third time this season it will be Lando Norris who will start ahead of everyone in a Formula 1 Gp. In fact, after Spain and Hungary, the McLaren Briton set the fastest time (1:09.673) in the decisive qualifying session at Zandvoort as well, and he will start first ahead of home idol Max Verstappen, who in his Red Bull did not go beyond a time 356 thousandths worse than Norris in Q3.
On the second row will be the other McLaren, that of Oscar Piastri (+0.499), and the Mercedes of George Russell (+0.571). Behind them will be Sergio Perez (+0.743), who will start with his Red Bull from fifth place, and Charles Leclerc (+0.909), sixth with the first of the two Ferraris.
Closing out the top 10 are Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), seventh at 960 thousandths from Norris, Alex Albon (Williams), eighth at 980 thousandths, Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), ninth at one second and 184 thousandths, and finally Pierre Gasly (Alpine), tenth with a gap of one second and 304 thousandths from the best time in Q3.
It was a day to forget for Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton: the number 55 Ferrari and the number 44 Mercedes failed to make the cut between Q2 and Q3 and will start respectively from the 11th and 12th box on the grid. As for the other positions, Yuki Tsunoda (RB) will start 13th, Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) 14th, Kevin Magnussen (Haas) 15th, Daniel Ricciardo (RB) 16th, Esteban Ocon (Alpine) 17th, Valtteri Bottas (Kick Sauber) 18th. In the last row Zhou Guanyu (Kick Sauber) and Logan Sargeant (Williams).
