Having definitely put behind her the bad start, with the technical problem in the first race on Thursday against Emirates Team New Zealand, Luna Rossa did not stop anymore and after the successes against Orient Express Racing Team and NYYC American Magic got the better of INEOS Britannia on Saturday: a trio of victories that guarantees a place in the finals in the America's Cup Preliminary Regattas in Barcelona.

Irrelevant, for ranking purposes, is the last race that the Italian team’s boat will face against Alinghi Red Bull Racing in the first part of the day, also on Sunday: in the final there will be a chance to redeem themselves against Emirates Team New Zealand, the only boat not to have lost yet in this series of races off Catalonia.

"We are very happy with this victory" said Francesco Bruni, one of Luna Rossa’s two helmsmen along with James Spithill, on the sidelines of Saturday’s race. "We made all the right choices, starting with the larger headsail, at the suggestion of our coach Hamish Willcox" he added, calling the choice decisive in winning today’s match.

Today’s Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team crew included, in addition to helmsmen Jimmy Spithill and Francesco Bruni, Umberto Molineris and Andrea Tesei as trimmers, while the cyclors were Enrico Voltolini, Emanuele Liuzzi, Cesare Gabbia and Luca Kirwan.
