Sven-Goran Eriksson has lost his battle. A battle fought with great courage. The legendary coach è passed away Monday morning surrounded by the’affection of his loved ones, according to a statement released by the family.
Eriksson had been diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer in early 2023. Doctors had given him one year to live, and he spent his final days with his loved ones, mostly at his country residence in Björnefors, Värmland.
His coaching career è began at Degerfors in 1977 and had its first breakthrough with a UEFA Cup title with IFK Göteborg in 1982. Other international successes include a Serie A title with Lazio in 2000, three league titles with Benfica. Svennis è has also been England coach and has coached big clubs such as Manchester City, Roma, Fiorentina and Sampdoria.
Svennis leaves in sorrow his daughter Lina Eriksson, son Johan Eriksson with wife Amana, father Sven, girlfriend Yaniseth with son Alcides, brother Lars-Erik with wife Jumnong.
