Anna Kalinskaya is unforgiving
Anna Kalinskaya moves on
There was great anticipation for Anna Kalinskaya’s debut at the U.S. Open. The Russian è took the court at the same time as Jannik Sinner (opposite McDonald), and on the other side of the net she found U.S. Lauren Davis, who tried hard to bar her way.
The first set had a rather peculiar development, because the Muscovite è immediately went down 0-2 but then she decisively changed gears, putting her rival on the ropes: Davis could not withstand the shock and lost six games in a row. 6-2 Kalinskaya, then, the first set.
With less excitement the second set fraction, with the U.S. stopping the hemorrhaging of games but then losing serve in the third game. Kalinskaya took no chances, indeed again wresting her service from her opponent before closing the second set as well on the score of 6-2.
