Italrugby in Genoa, agreement until 2026
Italrugby in Genoa
Genoa and the “Luigi Ferraris”Stadium return to host the Italian National Rugby team on the occasion of the year that sees the Ligurian capital as the European Capital of Sport. The ’appointment è set for Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2:40 p.m., when the Azzurri will receive Georgia in a challenge that rugby Italy has been waiting for since July 2022, when the Lelos managed to win a historic victory in Batumi, on the shores of the Black Sea.
Other shores, those of the Ligurian Sea, will be the stage for the ideal rematch of a test-match that has turned, over the past decade, into one of the most heartfelt rivalries in continental rugby and that will live out its own incarnation in the European Capital of Sport 2024.
The relationship between Genoa and rugby Italy, which has its roots as far back as 1935 with Italy v Catalonia, continues and is consolidated until 2026 thanks to the three-year agreement between the City of Genoa and the Italian Rugby Federation announced today at the same time as the “Ferraris” was chosen for the challenge to Georgia.
