US Open: Lucia Bronzetti advances to second round, eliminated Martina Trevisan
Only one set lasted the debut match at the US Open for Lucia Bronzetti. The Rimini-based tennis player, in fact, after winning the first partial 6-3, detached the pass for the second round thanks to the withdrawal of New Zealander Lulu Sun, who declared forfeit due to a hip problem.
Bitter debut, however, for Martina Trevisan, who è surrendered to host Taylor Townsend with a score of 6-2 7-5, in an hour and 55 minutes of play. The Italian leaves the tournament with some regrets, as in the second set she was unable to capitalize on a 5-2 lead, also suffering a comeback by her opponent.
In the second round, Lucia Bronzetti will face world number two Aryna Sabalenka.
The last U.S. Open women’s tennis è was won by Coco Gauff. In the final, the U.S. defeated Aryna Sabalenka by the score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, making a spectacular comeback after losing the first set. Gauff’s victory represented her first Grand Slam title: the unfortunate performance at the Olympics will be one more spur to do well in Flushing Meadows.
