Jasmine Paolini folds Bianca Andreescu in comeback and flies to second round at US Open

Jasmine Paolini confirmed herself "black beast" for Bianca Andreescu. After Roland Garros and Wimbledon, the Italian tennis player defeated the Canadian also at the US Open with a score of 6-7 6-4 6-2, after a marathon of almost three hours of play.
The match starts immediately uphill for the Italian player, who breaks serve in the third game, managing, however, to place the counter-break in the next game. The match grows in intensity and the North American, after holding in the crucial seventh game, takes the lead again in the eighth game. The Italian, with her back to the wall, did not give up and after canceling two set points, she regained parity and dragged the set to the tie-break, which was won by Andreescu 7-5.
The second partial è one-sided in Paolini’s favor. The Italian number one, in fact, in a short time flies on 4-0 and administers the score until the final 6-2. The third and decisive partial è full of twists and turns. The first stretch was placed by the Tuscan player in the third game. The Canadian player, then, è forced to call medical timeout for a physical problem.
After the stop, the North American was able to find more confidence and find the counter-break in the eighth game. The winner of the Olympic gold medal at Paris 2024 in the women’s doubles, however, did not let her guard down and snatched her serve again in the next game, allowing her to close the score at 6-4 on her own serve.
In the second round, Jasmine Paolini will face Czech Karolina Pliskova.
