Pistoia, Micheal Anumba introduces himself: words of a leader
Pistoia: Micheal Anumba
‘s first words.
Micheal Anumba, new acquisition of Estra Pistoia, introduced himself at the press conference: "I am finding myself very well, both inside and outside the parquet, I am very happy to be back in Italy: at the beginning è hard to change team and habits but, fortunately, here there’è a familiar environment, the coach is already making himself understood during the various training sessions and for now everything is going well".
He then recounted the negotiation that led him to wear the red and white jersey: "At’the beginning of the summer after finishing the season in college, through my attorney I got in touch with President Rowan who told me about the ambitions, the plans for this season and showed me great interest. Pistoia I have always seen it from a distance from America, not only last season: given also the presence in another A2 team of my brother Simon (he plays in Rimini, ed.), I had seen the playoff final against Torino and I was always struck by the intensity of the various teams, and players, that went on the court and the atmosphere around the team. So, knowing of this interest, I had no doubts in accepting the call from the’Estra".
"In the first few minutes it è well seen that we are a new and young team, but è all normal and in the programs since we have to get to know each other as a team and on the court – continued the guard class of 1999 -, at the level of the environment I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the people present at a first scrimmage of the season and I did not expect it. For us, we will slowly get into the game systems that the staff is putting us through: we train hard every day to get better and better.
"After these years it was a goal of mine to come back to play in Italy as a kid I used to look at the environment of Pallacanestro Reggiana with a nice warm climate, knowing that this is what the A Series will be like. I pursued my own path but è nice to be here, having now a lived in the basketball world and will be able’to contribute. On a personal level I consider myself a winner, I like to win and I don’t think about a single aspect on the court; all my weekly work is focused on getting to the win on Sunday. I am a player who does not look at his own scoreboard but what matters è the team" result, concluded Anumba.
