US Open, Jannik Sinner doesn’t tremble: 3-0 over Alex Michelsen
An unblemished path to advance the round after a convincing performance.
Jannik Sinner advances to the third round of the U.S. Open after a never-really-in-dispute victory over Alex Michelsen. The South Tyrolean, No. 1 in the world rankings, defeated in three sets the American, who occupies the No. 49 position in the ATP rankings: 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 the final score, accrued after just over an hour and a half of play.
Only in the course of the first set è came some fatigue too much for Sinner, who was able to hit the break already in the first game to Michelsen, who forò snatched his service already at the end of the next game. Same script at the points of 4-3 and 4-4, with the San Candido champion who però è was able to win an additional, decisive break in the ninth game as well.
Decidedly more comfortable was the continuation of the match for Sinner, who even ended the second set in less than half an hour without conceding any games to his opponent and in the third accelerated from 2-2, taking home each of the remaining six games.
Already in the first round of the U.S. Open Sinner had suffered the start of the match with Mackenzie McDonald (which in fact ended 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2). "The match did not è start in the best way, the first match in a big tournament is not easy. I tried to get into a rhythm, I am happy with the win and the reaction. We’ll see how it will go after a rest day", he had stated hot on that occasion.
