Luna Rossa flies over Barcelona waters, Enrico Voltoini reveals a backstory
Luna Rossa wins two out of two races and è leads the standings
It's a day to remember, Saturday, for Luna Rossa and for all sailing enthusiasts: winning two out of two races, the first against NYYC American Magic and the second against INEOS Britannia, the Italian club's boat, with three wins out of three, topped the provisional ranking of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the tournament being held in the waters of Barcelona that will decide the participant in the America's Cup final.
The road è still long but optimism è great in the Luna Rossa team. Cyclor Enrico Voltoini revealed a backstory, explaining how one has to prepare for facing two races in the same day: "The’wait è is tiring,” he said, “especially when it’s hot and you have to take long breaks between two races, but we are used to it".
"From the physical point of view, we cyclors must always be able to give our best,” Voltoini further added. “That is why, in addition to the warm-up we routinely do before boarding, we do another one in case of a break, before starting the next regatta".
"Those who come from the Olympic Classes know that you have to have a lot of patience in this sport,” added trimmer Umberto Molineris in this regard. “It's important not to lose concentration during breaks; you have to know when to press the off button to rest and when to turn it back on and be ready and clear-headed to start racing again".
Luna Rossa’s crew today included Jimmy Spithill and Francesco Bruni at the helm with Umberto Molineris and Andrea Tesei as trimmers. As for the cyclors, Enrico Voltolini, Bruno Rosetti and Cesare Gabbia sailed both races, while Emanuele Liuzzi è alternated with Luca Kirwan.
