Jasmine Paolini defeated on the second day of the Purple Group of the 2024 WTA Finals. After a victory in the opener against No. 5 ranking Elena Rybakina, the Azzurra failed to concede an encore with Aryna Sabalenka.
The Belarusian, world No. 1 and a big favorite for the final triumph in Saudi Arabia, è imposed herself 6-3 7-5 in 1 hour and 31 minutes of play.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Jasmine Poalini will play for access to the semifinals in the direct clash against China’s Qinwen Zheng (No. 7 in the rankings), who in turn has è imposed herself on Rybakina, already mathematically out of the game.
Sabalenka, on the other hand, officially punched her ticket to the penultimate act as first in the grouping.
