Nico Mannion, goodbye Varese

Now è official: "Pallacanestro Varese announces that in the morning today all procedures for the consensual termination of the contract that bound the club to Nico Mannion were completed. The’former white-and-red captain is to be thanked and wished well for the continuation of his season".

Now all that is missing is the announcement of Olimpia Milano, which will be the next team of the former Golden State Warriors and Virtus Bologna player, wanted by Ettore Messina to lengthen the rotations, also at the level of Italians.

Olimpia Milano coach Ettore Messina on Sunday evening bitterly commented on the crushing defeat suffered by his team in Trento on the sixth day of the Serie A basketball championship: the hosts won 91-57 in a game totally dominated against a team decimated by injuries.

"We were coming from a very difficult week and the players who had helped us hold up in Vitoria and win the game with Virtus today had nothing in the tank. We had started well but when they upped the pace, the physicality; we had nothing to oppose them. There were things we tried, I was hoping for something different, but without lucidity and without legs we couldn’t do anything, for example, we missed a lot of supports to the iron, shots that we normally don’t miss.
