AIRC Foundation: champions go on goal for research
Champions go into goal for research
From Thursday, November 7, the appointment with Un Gol per la Ricerca, a historic campaign promoted by the AIRC Foundation, is renewed. Soccer champions, Serie A Enilive teams and the Azzurri stand united alongside 6,000 researchers by taking the field for research. A true choral mobilization of the world of football made possible thanks to the valuable support of FIGC, Lega Serie A, Enilive and AIA, and the support of the sports media.
The kickoff whistle for Un Gol per la Ricerca è scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7, on the occasion of the first advance of the twelfth day of the championship, and will continue away on all the fields of Serie A Enilive to reach the Italy-France Nations League match on Sunday, Nov. 17. Players, coaches and referees invite fans and enthusiasts to join the team of those who believe in research by making lots of goals to make cancer more and more curable through donations by SMS or landline calls to 45521.
This year’s Un Gol per la Ricerca team has an even more competitive lineup led by ‘capitato’ Gianluigi Buffon, the first to wear the new jersey in the AIRC Foundation research colors. Alongside him are Gaia Buonaurio and Ernesto Cigliano, who were treated for cancer when they were teenagers, and researchers Giorgia Foggetti (Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan), who studies genomic factors that can increase response to treatment in lung cancer, and Simone Patergnani (Università degli Studi di Ferrara) working on the molecular mechanisms underlying pleural mesothelioma.
A team that canò also count many important confirmations, such as those of the ambassadors: Francesco Acerbi, Lorenzo De Silvestri, Valentina Giacinti and Claudio Marchisio. All of them are ready to wear the new jersey to renew their commitment alongside AIRC scientists and promote through their social channels messages to raise awareness on prevention issues and the value of research.
The’only way to win the game against cancer è to all play on the same team and have as a goal to score goals for research that cures. Anyone canò join the team of A Goal for Research by wearing the jersey already available on AIRC’s online shop.
