Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini bid farewell to the WTA Finals in Riyadh amid a thousand regrets. In fact, the Azzurri were eliminated by Hao-Ching Chan and Veronika Kudermetova, who prevailed in three sets (3-6 7-6 11-9) after a battle of one hour and three quarters in which they nullified no less than two match points for Sara and Jas.

In the first set, after an initial exchange of breaks, Errani and Paolini put the arrow from 3-3, stringing three consecutive games and making them the first partial by the score of 6-3.

In the second set, the Italian women went ahead by a break on four occasions but never managed to concretize the lead, even squandering two match points at 5-4. In the tie-break Chan and Kudermetova were unforgiving, winning it 7 points to 3.

In the final super tie-break everything happens: Errani and Paolini go down 5-1 but regain their opponents on 5-5; here a new Chan/Kudermetova stretch seems decisive (9-6) but the azzurre with pride save three match points (9-9); the fourth forò è the good one for Chan and Kudermetova who close on'11-9.
