Jannik Sinner between pride and awareness
The words of Jannik Sinner
After a comfortable success on his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals 2024 against Alex De Minaur, Jannik Sinner è repeated himself against Taylor Fritz, peeling off the pass to the semifinals of the competition with one round in advance. Speaking at a press conference, the South Tyrolean, in addition to analyzing his own performance, è dwelt on the pressures associated with taking the court as world number one.
"With Taylor we played a very important final in New York where we got to know each other better and this one today was another important opportunity for me to express a very good level of tennis and I am glad that I succeeded in such a tough match. He played a very aggressive match and I struggled a lot in response, forò I managed to serve very well when it counted and to handle the difficult situations very well" began the South Tyrolean.
"There are always differences from the past and in tennis it doesn't matter when you faced your opponent last time. I also played against a world number one and I know that when you are in that situation you don't have much to lose. There have been tennis players who have beaten me and I don't think they were influenced by my ranking. For my part I just try to improve as a player and stay focused exclusively on the present, becauseè in this sport you have to think only about the match of the day" added the world number one.
"The audience in Italy è fantastic because è they are always by your side, in good times and bad. Sometimes I still surprise myself, è an unusual situation even for me, but I try to get used to it. I just try to play good tennis on the court, which è the reason I am here. It was hard for me to give up the Rome Internationals but I wasn't ready physically. Now I am here, a year later, and I am enjoying every moment without ever taking anything for granted. Playing in Italy è extraordinary for me, then this è a tournament different from the others becauseè you have to qualify and already; to have succeeded è a great achievement" commented Jannik Sinner.
