Italrugby, Monty Ioane seek redemption with Georgia
The words of Monty Ioane
Monty Ioane spoke about Italrugby's second game, seeking redemption with Georgia after the loss to Argentina: "I think in the long run we paid for our difficulties in the breakdown. The Pumas were very aggressive on every possession we had and created problems for us. I think that was the main problem and we are looking at that during the week. Looking ahead to Georgia we will also have to work on our footwork and contact. The defeat hurts becauseé we did not put forth the performance that we wanted to do and that we felt we could do”.
“I know that right now the aerial game è the aspect I need to work on more. È a part of rugby and now with the new rules it will become even more important, I know I have to improve. Once I recovered the ball I tried to give my best in attack, and likewise I tried to defend as best I could, but è on the aerial game I have to work now”.
“For us every game è important, and we must always keep this mentality’. I know that outside there’s a particular perception of this game, especially on social media, and there is a lot of talk about how important it is to win it, but winning è exactly what we want, in this and all the games we face. Now we are not thinking about Argentina anymore and we are certainly not thinking about the All Blacks in two weeks, our focus è Georgia as it è every game we face. We have to focus only on ourselves and put forward the best possible version of Italy: if we do that then we can win”.
“This weekend we have seen so many balanced and hard-fought matches, and this makes us understand the difficulty of the match we will face. Against the Pumas not everything è went as we had prepared, but against Georgia it will be important not to deviate from who we are and what we do best. Obviously we are studying them and we are preparing a specific game plan for the match, but then the most important thing will be; as always what we will be able to put on the field”.
