No calculations for Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner closes the round dedicated to Ilie Nastase of the ATP Finals 2024 in Turin in style by defeating Daniil Medvedev on the third and final day: a 6-3, 6-4 success, achieved in one hour and fifteen minutes of play, which not only confirms the South Tyrolean's first position but also certifies the qualification, as runner-up, of Taylor Fritz and the consequent elimination of Medvedev himself.

After a balanced start, Medvedev risked a little something on 2-3 but retained his service by annulling two break points to Sinner: the latter, however, took the lead from there onwards going on to win the first set with a three-games-to-zero lead and a last game won, on his own serve, without conceding even a '15' to the evening's opponent.

The second fraction seems to get even better, with Sinner going ahead 3-1, but Medvedev has a jolt of pride and comes back with a 3-0 partial set, ending up byò in fact, his energy: the San Candido native in fact comes back on top on the very fast surface of the Inalpi Arena and with a three-game to zero counterpart goes on to win the match.

All that remains now is to wait until Friday to find out who will be Jannik Sinner’s opponent in the semifinals: the name will come out of the group dedicated to John Newcombe, which includes Germany’s Alexander Zverev, Norway’s Casper Ruud, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Russia’s Andrei Rublev.
