The Italian slalomists competing in Levi with thoughts of Matilde Lorenzi

Tomorrow in Levi, Finland, the first World Cup women’s slalom of the season will be held on the Levi Black slope. Seven Italian women’s skiers are competing, who made the eve ski run today: Martina Peterlini, Marta Rossetti, Lara Della Mea, Beatrice Sola, Giorgia Collomb, Lucrezia Lorenzi and Vera Tschurtschenthaler.

The girls, especially Lucrezia, her older sister, will compete with thoughts of Matilde Lorenzi, who died tragically in Val Senales and would have been 20 years old today. Here are the words of Rossetti, Peterlini and Lucrezia.

Marta Rossetti: “I am happy to start again, there’s only been a small hitch in my back in the past few days that has limited me this week, but the situation is improving and I should be competitive for the race thanks to the work done with the physiotherapist. The summer preparation è has been done well, è the third season I have been following this program with the team, we should see the results. Physically I also feel good, a few details è have been changed but the general approach è the same, upon returning from Argentina we skied more than last year, we have our fingers” crossed.

Martina Peterlini: “I am skiing well, I feel calm and I leave superconvinced to give my best. Last year I started with a high bib (n°45, ed) and placed 12th, this year I am much more forward and will try to do better. in the past few days I also trained in the giant, I am happy with the balance achieved on skis and from the physical point of view”.

Lucrezia Lorenzi: “I absolutely could not disappoint Matilde, I am finding the necessary strength and energy in our nature and snow. On the slope I will no longer be alone I will always carry her in my heart, she will help me get two more outsides……è not an easy time but I am putting my all into it”.
