Luca Banchi doesn’t fail Virtus Bologna: “We must be proud”

Fighting is not enough, and the new knockout generates inevitable bitterness.

Virtus Bologna defeated 77-82 in the Euroleague by Panathinaikos, despite a generous and courageous performance. Luca Banchi thus fails at the end of the game to put his players behind the blackboard, while admitting that there is still a lot of work to be done è to add to the recent good signs even the results that are lacking.

"We faced one of the best teams in the Euroleague – è was Banchi’s postgame comment -, and we forced Panathinaikos to give all its resources to win. At times we thought we could do it too, but then it is the details that make the difference. We must però be proud of this Virtus Bologna, which put forth all the energy it has to compete at such levels".

" Clearly, there is something to recriminate about,” Banchi added, “We missed shots from underneath, free throws, dunks, and we also lost a few too many balls. This analysis, however, would not do justice to our game, as we constantly gave Panathinaikos the feeling that we knew how to attack them. And Marco's last shot could have put us back in the game".

"Let us continue to believe in ourselves, if we play like thisì we will be able to take satisfaction. Each of us must continue to work to fill in those details that we need to achieve the results we perhaps deserve. The spirit è right, we have to combine it with the qualityà of play that we need", Banchi concluded.
