Tommaso Baldanzi worries Roma
Tommaso Baldanzi returns to Rome
After assisting from the bench in the match between Italy Under 21 and France’s peers (2-2 the final at the 'Castellani', Friday), Tommaso Baldanzi decided, in agreement with the Azzurrini’s technical and medical staff, to return to Rome, due to a muscle soreness that would have kept him out of Tuesday’s friendly match against Ukraine’s U21 team anyway.
"Roma midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi, due to unavailability for the match against Ukraine, has returned to the capital" reads the Federcalcio note, which thus formalizes the return to its club of the offensive midfielder who arrived in the capital in the winter market last season.
The Giallorossi doctors will therefore have to assess the ex-Empoli player's condition ahead of Sunday's challenge on November 24 at home to Napoli, a match that will mark the return to the Giallorossi bench of Claudio Ranieri, who has been called upon to revive a depressed environment after a negative start to the season that earned the exoneration first of Daniele De Rossi and then of Ivan Juric.
With Ranieri, Baldanzi is also aiming to regain continuity in terms of minutes: the 21-year-old has never played a full game this season, and only on four occasions (two in the league and as many in the Europa League) è remained on the field for more than 45 minutes. He scored one goal, in the 3-0 win at Udinese last Sept. 22, a couple of weeks after his resounding hat-trick at Norway's Under-21s in the Azzurrini jersey.
