Monday's 13th Serie A matchday opened with a draw between Empoli and Udinese. At the 'Castellani' the hosts went ahead halfway through the first half thanks to a goal by Pietro Pellegri. Halfway through the second half came the guests’ equalizer through Keinan Davis, who signed the definitive 1-1.
Empoli started off strong and on 14' went close to the lead with Colombo, whose attempted cross slammed off the crossbar. On 23' the Azzurri take the lead: Cacace serves Pellegri, who turns and kicks a precise digonal from the edge of the area that beats Okoye. The Friulians tried to react with Thauvin but Vasquez was ready.
In the second half, Runjaic inserted Lucca and Zemura for Giannetti and Kamara, switching to a much more offensive set-up. The Bianconeri attacked but struggled to break through. On 76' however, Empoli’s wall fell: Lovric’s corner and Davis’s perfect breakaway, which slipped past Vasquez and made it 1-1.
With this draw, Udinese remains ahead of Empoli in the standings: the Bianconeri, in ninth place, rise to 17, +1 over the Azzurri, who are stuck in 10th place.
