Modena beats Padua 3-1 and returns to success

There was no lack of entertainment in Valsa Group Modena-Sonepar Padua: the Emilians won 3-1  (25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22) in the face of the Venetians.

Modena starts with a sextet consisting of De Cecco-Buchegger in the main diagonal, Rinaldi-Gutierrez in the band, Anzani-Sanguinetti in the middle with Federici at libero in reception and Gollini at libero in defense. Padova responds with Falaschi at setter, Masulovic opposite, Porro-Sedlacek hammers, Plak-Crosato center with Diez libero. Balanced start to the match, 14-14 with Gutierrez’s winning attack. Padua tries to stretch, Masulovic to score and 17-19 with Giuliani timeout. Modena responds present and does not give up, Gutierrez takes advantage of a guest error in reception and 20-20 with Cuttini timeout. The final set è fought, è Sanguinetti’s first half to give the partial to the hosts: 25-23 and 1-0.

Padova starts better in the second set, 7-10 after the first exchanges and Giuliani timeout. Sanguinetti’s ace brings Modena back into the match, 12-13 and Cuttini timeout. The gialloblù continue to fight: first Gutierrez’s wall and then Rinaldi’s ace allow Modena to take the lead, 17-16. They fight point to point until the end: Padua wins the partial 22-25 with Crosato’s wall on Buchegger, 1-1 at PalaPanini.

Modena starts the third set strong, Buchegger’s winning serve for 8-5 and Cuttini timeout. Padua fires back blow for blow, but two consecutive aces by Stankovic allow Giuliani’s team to stay ahead: 15-14. The hosts kept the concentration level high and with a wild Stankovic returned to the lead in the partial tally, 25-19 with Rinaldi’s final ace and 2-1.

Modena keeps the pace high even at the beginning of the fourth set, 5-1 with Sanguinetti’s wall and Cuttini timeout. Giuliani’s lineup presses on, Rinaldi’s ace and 12-4. Padua reacts and gets back under again thanks to Porro, relentless on serve, 15-13 and Giuliani timeout. The gialloblù do not give up and fight until the last point, bringing home the set 25-22 with Sanguinetti’s ace and the match with the score of 3-1 at the end of an authentic battle. Modena will return to the court on Sunday, December 1 at 4 p.m. in an away match against Taranto.
