Fourth loss in last five games for Los Angeles Lakers

MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES-LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 93-92
Anthony Edwards made a decisive triple with 2:24 left, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 93-92 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers Friday night in Minneapolis, in the NBA Cup Group A West game.
Minnesota grabbed two offensive rebounds in the final seconds, running the clock down. Edwards finished with 21 points for the Timberwolves, who finished the group stage with a 2-2 record.
James Harden (20 points, 11 assists) and Ivica Zubac (16 points, 13 rebounds) each recorded a double-double as Los Angeles è dropped to 1-2 in Group A West with one game left to play. Kevin Porter Jr. added 17 points, but suffered an apparent ankle injury late in the fourth period.

ATLANTA HAWKS-CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 117-101
De'Andre Hunter scored 23 points off the bench, leading Atlanta to victory over Cleveland on the road, securing the NBA Cup Group C East title.
Trae Young added 21 points and 11 assists for Atlanta, which beat Cleveland for the second consecutive game. Jalen Johnson contributed 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Hawks.
Darius Garland è was Cleveland’s top scorer with 29 points, while Evan Mobley totaled 24 points and 12 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell scored 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, but shot only 5 of 23 from the field. The Cavaliers have lost three of their last five games after starting the season with 15 consecutive wins.

CHARLOTTE HORNETS-NEW YORK KNICKS 98-99
Jalen Brunson scored 11 of his 31 points in the final five minutes of regulation, propelling New York to victory over host Charlotte in the Group A stage of the NBA Cup.
The Knicks improved to 3-0 in the group stage thanks to double-doubles by Karl-Anthony Towns (19 points, 12 rebounds) and Josh Hart (13 points, 12 rebounds). Brunson made 3 of 4 free throws in the last 14 seconds to secure the win after being down 10 points in the first half.
Brandon Miller led the Hornets (0-3 in the Cup) with 20 points, while top scorer LaMelo Ball missed the game due to a left calf injury.

NEW JERSEY NETS-ORLANDO MAGIC 100-123
Franz Wagner scored 21 of his 29 points in the first half, helping Orlando take control in the final second quarter and pull away from Brooklyn in the third, clinching an NBA Cup victory in New York.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made four threes and added 19 points for the Magic. Orlando, which è improved to 3-0 in Group A, shot 53 percent and matched a season-best with 18 threes scored.
Shake Milton scored 22 points and Keon Johnson added 15, with Brooklyn’s bench contributing 58 points. The Nets finished 1-3 in NBA Cup games and were eliminated.

Ja Morant scored 27 points, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 23 and substitute Santi Aldama contributed 20 points to lead Memphis to its first NBA Cup victory over New Orleans.
The Pelicans, without Zion Williamson (hamstring injury) and Brandon Ingram (calf problem), suffered their seventh consecutive loss. Memphis, which had an 0-6 record in the NBA Cup in two seasons, earned its fifth consecutive win and ninth in 12 games.
CJ McCollum è was the top scorer for New Orleans (1-3 in the Cup) with a season high of 30 points. Dejounte Murray and Trey Murphy III added 21 points each, while Yves Missi contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds.

INDIANA PACERS-DETROIT POSTONS 106-130
Cade Cunningham è returned after an injury by scoring 24 points, and Detroit è remained undefeated in the NBA Cup, formally eliminating the defending runners-up with a win over Indiana in Indianapolis.
Malik Beasley led Detroit with 25 points, while Jaden Ivey added 23 and Tobias Harris 16 for the Pistons, who will host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday in a showdown between teams with 3-0 records for the Group B East title.
Pascal Siakam scored 21 points and Tyrese Haliburton 19 for the Pacers, who went down by 12 points in the first quarter and never managed to recover.

CHICAGO BULLS-BOSTON CELTICS 129-138
Jayson Tatum scored 35 points and 14 rebounds, while Payton Pritchard è came off the bench to score 29 points, allowing Boston to win against Chicago.
Pritchard scored 7 of 11 triples attempted, including 19 points in the fourth period. Boston received 21 points from both Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics improved to 3-1 in the NBA Cup and could advance as a wild card.
Nikola Vucevic scored 32 points and collected 11 rebounds for Chicago, which è fell to 2-2 in the NBA Cup and è was eliminated. Zach LaVine added 29 points, scoring four triples. With his third triple, LaVine passed Kirk Hinrich for the most triples scored in franchise history.

Scottie Barnes, a South Florida native, scored 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Raptors. RJ Barrett scored 25 points, with seven assists and six rebounds, and Jakob Poeltl finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS-SACRAMENTO KINGS 115-106
DeAndre Ayton totaled 26 points and 9 rebounds, helping Portland overcome Sacramento in the NBA Cup.
Anfernee Simons contributed 21 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds, while Deni Avdija added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for Portland, which had lost four of its previous five games.
Malik Monk scored 29 points and 9 assists off the bench, while De'Aaron Fox added 22 points for Sacramento, which had lost five of its last six games. Domantas Sabonis recorded a triple double (21 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists), his 62ª in his career and fourth of the season.

LOS ANGELES LAKERS-OKLAHOMA CITY THINDER 93-101
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City to an away win against the Los Angeles Lakers in an NBA Cup game, scoring 36 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds.
The Thunder improved to 2-1 in Group B West, while the Lakers, the defending NBA Cup champions, dropped to 2-2. Jalen Williams added 19 points, Luguentz Dort 14 points and Isaiah Hartenstein 11 points with a season high of 18 rebounds for the Thunder, who earned their fourth straight win.
Rookie Dalton Knecht led the Lakers with 20 points, D'Angelo Russell added 17 off the bench, and Anthony Davis recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 stoppages. LeBron James finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists as the Lakers lost four of their last five games.
