Bad fall for Mikaela Shiffrin, postponed the appointment with victory number 100

The Superstar track in Killington, in the U.S. state of Vermont, seemed the perfect setting for Mikaela Shiffrin’s victory number 100 in the World Cup, and after the American champion’s best time in the first run, everything boded well for her success in Saturday’s giant slalom: instead, Shiffrin herself è was the protagonist of a nasty fall, which actually handed victory to Sara Hector.

With an overall time of 1:53.08, therefore, the Swede è won her first victory of the season, facilitated by the accident that occurred to Mikaela Shiffron halfway through the second run: the American è fell in a turn to the right, slipping and hitting the base of one of the gates and ending up against the nets, without the ski mounted on her left boot coming off. The condition of the U.S. athlete will be evaluated in the coming hours.

Rounding out the podium, behind Hector, were Croatia&#39s Zrinka Ljutic and Switzerland&#39s Camille Rast. Day without any particular highlights for the Italians: after a good seventh place in the first run, Federica Brignone went off the track in the second run and è was forced to retire, the best of the azzurre athletes è Asja Zenere, 18th at 3.62 from the winner.

Closing immediately behind her was Giorgia Collomb (+3.89), while Ilaria Ghisalberti è twenty-first (+3.92) and Lara Della Mea twenty-sixth (+6.43). Not qualifying for the second run were Elisa Platino, Roberta Melesi and Marta Bassino, who failed to make it among the top thirty at the conclusion of the first run.
