Jiovanni Raineri no longer è the coach of women's Italrugby

Giovanni Raineri is leaving the technical leadership of the women’s national rugby team. This was made known by the federation, stressing that "following an in-depth review process by the technical management on the findings of the 2024 sports results, Giovanni Raineri will leave the role of Technical Commissioner of the Women’s National Team" on December 31.

Raineri had taken over the helm of Italy in December 2022, leading the Azzurre in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the Guinness Women's Six Nations and WXV, also winning qualification for the 2025 Rugby World Cup in England in the two-year period and guiding Giordano and teammates to their first-ever victory in Ireland in the 2024 Tournament.

Daniele Pacini, technical director of federugby, said, "Nanni has picked up with passion and uncommon commitment the legacy left by Andrea Di Giandomenico, who had led the women’s national team for 12 years, and with his work ethic has achieved some important milestones, securing our participation in this summer’s Rugby World Cup in England.

We assessed together that, with the qualification to the rainbow review, the goals of his management could be considered achieved and his skills could, at this stage, find a more effective application in the training of the best national male prospects at the U18 Permanent Training Center in Rome. We thank him for the work he has done and the commitment he has guaranteed throughout his tenure".

"Coaching a group of talented female athletes, with whom I share a very strong love for our sport, è been a great privilege – Raineri words to the federugby website – and will be at the disposal of the new coach to ensure the best possible transition. I thank all the Azzurre with whom I have had the opportunity to work over the past two years and will follow their path in 2025 with affection, certain that they will continue to be, with stubbornness and enthusiasm, wonderful ambassadors of Italian rugby".
