Beaver Creek, there is more than just the return of Sofia Goggia

Ski World Cup week features dates on different continents for men and women. The French resort of Val d’Isère è ready to welcome the specialists of the technical disciplines with the giant slalom on Saturday, December 14 (first run at 09.30 and 13.00, live telecast on RaiSport and Eurosport) in which Alex Vinatzer, Filippo Della Vite, Luca De Aliprandini, Hannes Zingerle, Giovanni Borsotti and Simon Talacci will take part, while on Sunday 15 it’s the turn of the slalom with the same Vinatzer and Della Vite, as well as Tobias Kastlunger and Stefano Gross.

The’last Italian podium between the wide gates è dated December 11, 2010 with Massimiiano Blardone’s third place, in slalom Stefano Gross was third on December 15, 2019. There are four victories in history, with Gustavo Thoeni in giant in 1969 and 1975 and Piero Gros also in giant in 1972 and 1974.

On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in Beaver Creek in the United States, women’s sprinting takes center stage with a downhill on Saturday, Dec. 14 (7 p.m. with live television coverage on Raidue and Eurosport) and a super-giant on Sunday, Dec. 15 (also at 7 p.m. on Raidue and Eurosport), marking the official return to the track of Sofia Goggia and Elena Curtoni.

In addition to the two Lombard women will be Federica Brignone, Laura Pirovano, Roberta Melesi, Marta Bassino, Nadia Delago, Nicol Delago, Sara Thaler, and Vicky Bernardi. Women have competed on the Birds of Prey only once in history, in 2013, in a giant slalom won by Jessica Lindell-Vikarby over Mikaela Shiffrin and Tina Weirather; Brignone was seventh.
