Having passed the halfway mark in Pool C of the CEV Champions League 2024-2025, it s already time to start again with the challenges of the return round. Numia Vero Volley Milano prepares to welcome the Slovenian side of Calcit Kamnik on Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m., on the court of’Opiquad Arena in Monza. A crucial match for coach Lavarini’s girls, determined to win 3 crucial points after the stop suffered in Turkey against VakifBank Istanbul last November 28.

In fact, the group sees Guidetti’s team leading with full points, followed by the Milanese on 6 points and FC Porto on 3, while Calcit Kamnik closes the pool with 0. In the first leg match at Sportna Dvorana Tivoli in Ljubljana, Numia nimbly overcame the Slovenians 3-0 thanks to a super performance by Hena Kurtagic, MVP with 13 points scored.

The two formations had faced each other before, but never in the Champions League. The first meeting dates back, in fact, to the quarterfinals of the 2018-19 CEV Challenge Cup, an edition later won by the very first Vero Volleyball women’s team. On that occasion the girls won 3-0 in the first leg and 1-3 in the return, thus gaining the pass to the semifinals of the competition.

Fourth participation – the second consecutive – in the Champions League for the Slovenian team, which, however, has never won any of its 21 matches so far in the group stage of Europe’s most prestigious competition. Calcit Kamnik, champions of Slovenia for the fifth year in a row, are also looking to become the first national team to win a match in Europe, as they and the’other compatriot team, Nova KBM Branik Maribor, have lost all 35 matches played altogether.
