Short Pool World Championships, Italian record in women’s 4×200 freestyle
At the World Short Tub Championships in Budapest, the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay shattered the previous Italian record of 7'43"18 swum by Margherita Panziera, Erika Musso, Federica Pellegrini and Simona Quadarella six years ago, on December 15, at the World Championships in Hangzhou.
The young Italy composed of Sofia Morini, Giulia D'Innocenzo, Matilde Biagiotti and Anna Maria Mascolo, 21.2 years of age average, closed the batteries with the third fastest time in 7'41"46, giving the feeling that they could file something in the final.
"We started with the knowledge that we would do well. This record gives us confidence for the continuation of our work; now we have the world final to honor and to face with the ambition to give us something unexpected. The important thing is to be able to take advantage of opportunities should they arise,” said Sofia Morini.
