Sour day for blue snowboarding

Ending with a good result in the men’s race and a small disappointment in the women’s race was the day of competition in Cervinia that opened the Snowboard Cross (SBX) season. Among the men, in fact, Lorenzo Sommariva savored the taste of the podium again, finishing third, while in the women’s race Michela Moioli did not è go beyond eighth place.

“A very peculiar podium given the fall at the start – explained Sommariva, who finished behind Austria's Jakob Dusek and Australia's Cameron Bolton – but for once è it went well and I was able to bring home a podium, which is very important for me becauseè I am at home here and on this track I grew up".

"After the fall in the final I thought things that can not be said: I would have liked to play the best with my opponents – added the 31-year-old from the Army -. The previous rounds were very hard-fought and I can say that I earned my luck in the final. I thank Roberto Greco who follows me on the mental aspects: he helped me a lot to overcome complicated moments. Returning to the podium in front of my partner in sweet expectation makes me feel really over the moon".

Instead, these are the words of Moioli, who was forced to compete in the small final after her third place in the semifinals (who won the final for first place è was the French Lea Casta): "It's still the first race of the season – she said -. The last few days have been intense and I also suffered a bruised knee but when è time to compete the competitive drive prevails over everything. I’m still here and I’m playing it with many strong girls: è a spinning wheel but this stimulates me to play it every race".
