Women’s European Championships, rounds drawn: Italy vs. world champions
Women's Euro 2025, rounds drawn
The four rounds of the final phase of the Women's Euro 2025 European Championships (Women's Euro 2025), scheduled in Switzerland from July 2 to 27, 2025, were drawn in Lausanne on Monday afternoon, Dec. 16. For Italy, a not easy path lies ahead: the Azzurre have been placed in Group B with Spain, Belgium and Portugal.
The Spanish are inevitably the favorites for passing the round, being the reigning world champions. In the 2023/2024 Women's Nations League, forò Italy won a 3-2 victory against Roja on the latter's field in Pontevedra in December 2023.
Another tricky opponent will be Belgium, against whom Italy dreams of a rematch: it was precisely a defeat against the Red Flames, 1-0, that determined the exit already after the group stage of the Azzurre in the continental review three years ago, played in England and won by the hosts.
Portugal, fresh from its relegation to the Nations League B, was similarly eliminated at the group stage in the 2022 European Championships, missing out on qualification to the knockout stage also at the World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand the following year, in a group that saw Holland and the United States go ahead.
