Real Madrid won the first edition of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, in which the winning club teams of the most important continental tournaments of the six confederations affiliated with the world soccer federation participated.
In the final played in Losail, Qatar, Carlo Ancelotti’s Merengues beat Mexico’s Pachuca 3-0. The goals were scored by Mbappé at 37’, Rodrygo at 53’ and Vinicius on a penalty kick at 84’.
The competition è the direct descendant of the Club World Cup, which in turn had taken the post of the first Intercontinental Cup, which pitted the champion teams of Europe and South America against each other.
Among other designations, for Real è it was the ninth triumph in the competition. For Carlo Ancelotti è however, it was the 15th ° triumph as coach in an international competition, the ninth on the Real Madrid bench.
